Text Message / Mobile Marketing..

Creation Date : Nov 29, 2009 5:07 PM | Modification Date : Nov 29, 2009 5:07 PM

Hello,

I would like to sell Text message/mobile marketing to small-to-medium sized businesses in my community, however, I am a bit unsure if this type of advertising would be accepted.  Can you please give me some insight if this is a road I should explore?  I would like the pros and cons to this type of advertising.

Thank you!

Re: Text Message / Mobile Marketing..

Anthony,

I could sit here and quote you facts and statistics for text marketing, however I will assume you are already in the process of doing your homework in this area.  I will tell you that text marketing is very effective if presented and implemented the proper way. Most of my clients see the power of this advertising medium, however also feel it is over their head to implement.  This is where your personality and communication skills determine how effective or successful your presentation will be to your potential client. Implementation of a text marketing solution is quite simple and can take a few minutes to set up.  The keys to your clients success is implementing a plan and setting the proper expectations.

I review all their current marketing efforts and establish a base line of results prior to my solution being implemented.  Then I show them how they can build a highly targeted client list with their existing marketing efforts.  I also point out that depending on their form of advertising and past results, what they should expect from making these simple changes.  I then also show them, how we can rapidly increase this client list through proximity marketing and track the results.  Another point I stress is that they need to be creative.  Text Marketing is a very personal form of advertising and is not like the other forms of mass marketing.  All of the subscribers who have opted in are giving the vendor specific permission to contact them with special offers or announcements. How the vendor treats this relationship will determine the end results.  Factors to always be aware of are the quality of your offers, the number of times you initiate contact (do not go over board or else it will be a major violation of the trust from the subscriber) and how your business or service treats them when they finally visit their establishment.

The one con I would say for text message marketing is this that once this simple solution is implemented, they under estimate the power of this form of advertising.  This solution is not one you set up and walk away from and magically put a line of paying customers out the vendors door.  It can produce these results, however the vendor has to understand that if used properly  can produce  the most targeted, interested clients who have specifically expressed interest in what they have to offer. Text message marketing is the introduction and how well the vendor treats the client, how attractive the offer and is what your vendor is offering, what people really want?

When you are going to your vendors you have to respect their time and provide them with the most information in the least amount of time.  If they are interested in learning more, set up another time when you can come by and go over your service.  I personally have found that this is better presented in person and is usually a quick agreement in how this can help them increase their client base.  I personally take a hands on approach and do what ever I can to help them succeed.

I hope this helps.
